God Bless the USA layout - Doodlebug Design DT project featuring Hometown USA collection

Hello there! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far! I am getting so excited for the upcoming 4th of July holiday- it is my favorite holiday! I had a great time using the super cute "Hometown USA" collection to make this fun festive layout.

I thought this photo of my daughter, niece, and nephew in red, white, and blue clothes made it the perfect photo to highlight. They were enjoying a fun hometown parade, excited for all the candy they were going to get!! The awesome papers that I used for my background- the light blue of the All American paper paired so well with the bright Picnic Plaid and Red, White, and Blue star papers! One strip along the top from the border strips on the Polka Dot Pride paper made a great eye-catching base for the top of the layout.

Let's look at some of the details on the layout:

A cute trio of fireworks with the fun "Land that I Love" Shape Sprinkles in the center are so fun and add great interest in this corner above the photo!

I love that Doodlebug has made acetate papers with each of the collections. I used my stitched star metal dies to cut out some stars out of the "Festive Fireworks" acetate. I love the subtle touch they add to the page!  How cute are the beautiful blue stars from the Mini Jewels as well? They add just the right amount of sparkle on the page without overwhelming the other shapes!

My title - "God Bless the USA" is from the Chit Chat!

This little cluster of embellishments was so fun to put together - I used one of the tags from the "Tag Your're It" paper is always a great spot for journaling! I added some fun red, white and blue bakers twine to the top. How adorable is our cute little patriotic friend with her wagon full of flags! That die cut and the sign post are both from the Odds and Ends. More acetate stars and a small silver star finish this cluster off. Too cute!

Along the top of the page, I made another fun cluster with more fireworks, stars, and jewels to frame the cute "Fourth of July Parade" banner from the Chit Chat. I love how shiny this group is with the silver foil, enamel hearts, and small jewels!

I had so much fun creating this festive layout, and cannot WAIT for the parades, fireworks, and celebrations coming up soon! I hope my layout has inspired you to grab this cute collection and get ready to add your own patriotic celebration photos! We will see you all next time- Happy Crafting!

Have you ever tried a different page size than you normally do and fall completely in love with it? That is what happened to me when I tried a new format to my memory keeping! I love these Travelers Notebook size pages (mine measure about 4 1/2 x 8 1/8 inches)! My scrapbooking time is limited in the summer with all the activities going on and so this quick and easy style is right up my ally! Today I have 2 of these spreads to show you highlighting some fun 4 of July memories using the new "Hometown USA" collection.

My first page is a pocket page that I divided up using my Fuse tool. I wanted my 4x4 inch photo to be in the center, and then I used my Fuse tool to make the 2 x 4 1/2 inch sections on the top and the bottom.

I filled my bottom little  pocket with the Festive Firework Acetate. I then filled it with the super cute Land that I Love Shakers, the Silver ball Shakers and some glitter and tinsel from my stash. This makes for a interesting interactive element to my page. Look at all that sparkle and shine!
The next page I made into a pocket that holds more photos of our fun night watching fireworks. Along the top I layered some of the adorable firework and star die cuts from the Odds and Ends ephemera. I also added a tag from the Chit Chat and added the Uncle Sam die cut to the front. I love how he is just peeking up from behind the title of the page. I added some red, white and blue Doodle twine to the top of my tag for more festive fun!

My July 4th title is from the Chit Chat and it sits on top of my journaling block. More decorating was done with some Puffy Stickers.

My next spread is a fun one and my photo matched perfectly with the Patriotic Puppy Doodlepop- so I had to use it !

A smattering of embellishments decorate this top section - lots of stickers, and ephemera from the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat were used.

The papers in this collection are so pretty as you can see on this page which also features my journaling. The silver is a great touch ! (Even if its a little hard to photograph :) )

I hope that these 2 festive spreads make you so excited for the upcoming 4th of July Holiday! It is my favorite holiday and I loved getting to work with this amazing  collection! Also- I hope I have inspired you to try a different size of layout than you normally do, you may just fall in love with it like I did! Have the best day crafty friends, and we will see you next time!!
