Doodlebug Design Odds and Ends Challenge - Clothespin Photo Holders with Tya

Hi Doodlebug fans! It's Tya here and I am closing out our awesome and super fun Odds and Ends Challenge that we have had going on the blog the last couple of weeks. It was so fun to use this amazing product  and I challenged myself to use it in a new and inventive way other than a card or scrapbook layout. What I came up with are these cute photo holders made from giant clothespins that I picked up at my local craft supply store.  I used the adorable Dragon Tails line to make these and used the Odds and Ends, pattern paper, clothespins, mini stickers, This and That Sticker Sheet and enamel dots.
These clothespins are something I have had pinned on my "Projects I Love" board on Pinterest for ages and I am glad I got a chance to finally make these. To make the clothespins I painted them with some acrylic paint and then added various pattern papers to the front of the clothespins.

I then printed off a few photos and then had fun decorating each of the clothespins in different ways. Here are some close ups:

These clothespins would be great as party favors or party decor - or even fun for a little gift. I hope I have inspired you to make some of these cute photo holders of your own. The Odds and Ends come with so many different pieces that you will have plenty to create so many different projects! Thanks for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

Cartopia Accordian Mini Album by Carta Bella

Hello there! It's Tya and I am up on the blog today sharing with you my project featuring the awesome Cartopia collection. This collection was so fun to work with and so inspiring! I just loved it! I knew right away what photos and memories I wanted to share so I made a mini album to highlight those special memories. We are Disneyland nuts at our house and I have SOOO many Disneyland photos. One of my favorite things to do is to ask each of my kids what their favorite ride is and then take photos of that ride. The papers and icons in this amazing collection just screamed Cars Land to me so I knew exactly what photos I wanted to use. My oldest daughter loves this ride so I plan on giving this little album to her so she can remember all the fun times we had on her favorite ride.

To make the base of this album I simply took a piece of kraft cardstock and scored it at 4 inches and 8 inches vertically and then turned the paper and scored it at 6 inches horizontally. I then trimmed the paper on the 6 inch scored mark and ended up with 2 pieces that are 6x 12 and scored every 4 inches. I accordion folded the papers. I then glued one of the sections to the end of the other and then trimmed off one of the end pieces because I didn't have tons of photos. So in the end the album folded out like shown below. I decorated the fronts and the backs of the paper and make one of the sections my cover.

To decorate this album I used some of the 12x12 papers , the 6x6 paper pad, the Ephemera, some enamel dots ,buttons,  twine and the Sticker sheet. Here are some close ups of the album:

To make the title of my album, I chose a block font and cut the letters out of  a piece of the 6x6 Scenic Route map paper on my Silhouette. I also cut out a shadow letter from black cardstock for some dimension.

I recorded my journaling here. Its always nice to have a little story recorded about the theme of the album.

I just loved the pop of color the enamel dots added to this stop light created! Enamel dots are some of my go to embellishments!

So that is my mini album. It was really nice and easy to create and super fun to decorate. I hope I have inspired you to grab this cute collection and make an accordion mini album like this one to record your special memories. Happy crafting!

I ran inside for a moment to get more towels and I came out to find all the kids snuggled up together in the hammock. It was so sweet and I am glad I have photos to record this sweet memory. PageMaps Sketch Layout - Doodlebug Kitten Smitten

Hi Everyone!  It's Tya and I am up on the blog today with my PageMaps Sketch Challenge Layout! The Doodlebug Design Team were all given great sketches to play with from the July PageMaps release.   I received this fabulous sketch from Becky Fleck...

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjty-BN0sWvOvutg6iZx4_JBxoUP7SHZ7SIBpKZFj95YzckDX1W1xAUyTTHxq7W9QNgeHM-r7tXISgT94RX7TayeFbEwciBL4EDQU-zh6SWHuOkcSDG57D1CphvT8dcqzNxDMBkQ06m9b0/s1600/pagemap650.jpg

Here is my take on the sketch:
I am the biggest fan of Becky's sketches - in fact - I rarely start out creating a layout without a sketch in mind. This was a really fun sketch to work with!
I admit it - I am a cat lady - I only have one kitty named Hobbes so I can't be considered crazy yet right? :) He has been in our family for 17 years now and I just adore him to pieces. He is a snugly guy and I recently captured these photos of him and I mid-cuddle. We had just gotten home from being on vacation for a week and he just hopped up on the bed and gave me the sweetest loves. I am glad I caught this memory. Here are some close ups of the page:

To make my layout I started with some pattern papers from the Kitten Smitten collection. How cute are the kitty heads all over that paper right? My title is made from one of the Odds and Ends pieces. The black paw print is from the Odds and Ends as well. I added a scallop stripe pattern paper strip and a polka dot paper strip and layered them right under my photos. I added a ric rac black sticker from the This and That sticker sheet to the top of the paper strips.

Next I used some more ephemera pieces from the Odds and Ends to make a little cluster of embellishments. The kitty, pillow and hearts are all from that pack. The pink yarn ball is a sticker from the icon sticker sheet. I added a black matte sprinkle on to one of the hearts as well. My journaling was hand written on the notebook paper Odds and Ends ephemera and the So Happy Together banner is a sticker from the This and That sticker sheet. I tied some black and white bakers twine to the top of the journal spot.

The banner up on the left top corner was made using some banner pieces from the Odds and Ends. I strung them on some black and white bakers twine. I added 2 star stickers from the This and That sticker sheet to the ends.
Finally in the upper right corner, I added another little cluster of embellishments featuring a cute pink kitty in a box, and a aqua heart die cut. Then I added the cute Kitty tab sticker. I finished embellishing the heart with a yellow matte sprinkle.

That's all there is to it! Thank you Becky for providing the adorable sketch! It is one that I will for sure be revisiting very soon! Hopefully I have inspired you all to try it as well! Have a great weekend!
