Scallop Circle Tri-Fold Card Tutorial

Hi Doodlebug friends - today I am so pleased to share with you one of my favorite techniques, paired with some of my favorite Doodlebug products! I have always loved making fun fold cards. I love the extra element of fun that a card with interactive parts to it adds - it gives the card recipient a little extra surprise when they open up the envelope! I love that!  And while I adore all the themed lines that Doodlebug puts out, I love the fact that they have so many basic supplies that I reach for all the time. Some of my favorites are Petite Prints, Doodle Twine, Doodles card sentiments and all the amazing embellishments that are perfect for any project!
Here are the supplies you need to complete this card :

SUPPLIES:
4 1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock
Scoring tool
2 1/2 inch circle punch
Large Scallop punch (mine is about 2 3/8 inch)
2 inch circle punch
border punch
1 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch piece of cardstock
Embellishments such as jewels or brads
Lets make the card!

Step 1- Using a scoring tool, take a 4 1/4 x 11 inch piece of cardstock and score at 4 1/4 and 8 1/2 inches on the 11 inch side of the paper.
Step 2- Take your 2 1/2 inch circle punch and line it up as shown on the score mark you made at the 8 1/2 inch mark. Slide the punch all the way in making sure that the score line is in the middle of the circle. Punch out the circle.

Step 3- This is what the card will look like with the circle punched out and all the score lines folded.
If you want to- add a little bit of adhesive to the underside of the the top flap as shown.
Step 4- Now comes the fun part! Punch out a scallop circle from the petite print paper. Punch out a 2 inch circle from white cardstock. Add a Doodlepop to the center of the circle. Punch out edge of cardstock with your choice of border punch. Add the Petite Print and cardstock paper strips. Add Bakers twine to the top of the flap. Add Doodle card sentiment and embellishment.
Here are just a few different varieties below using all the same basic elements. Just change the colors, sentiment and Doodle-Pops to match your theme and you have a sure formula for making adorable cards like these over and over again! Thanks for stopping by today!

Hi there! My name is Tya Smith and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to be a part of the Doodlebug Design Team once again this year. I had such an amazing experience being on the team last year and am honored to be able to be back for another term!

Just a little about me- I am a wife of 18 years to my hottie husband Brad, and a Mom to 3 wonderful, crazy busy kids : Ashlyn (16), Ethan (13) and Maddie (11). I live in Syracuse, UT which is about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City (and the Doodlebug Design Home Office!) When I am not working on paper crafts, I love to travel, cook and read. I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan and love 80's music! I have worked at my local scrapbook store The Heartland Paper Co. for 15 years.

I love being creative and love color so Doodlebug was THE perfect fit for me! Thanks Doodlebug for letting me "play" for another year!

A Gift for Someone Special featuring Doodlebug Design

A big Ho-Ho-Hello to You! Tya here and I am going to show to you today a nifty little gift card holder that would be perfect for a special teacher, co-worker, or neighbor. Gift card holders are somewhat impersonal and not so cute. I decided to use my stash from the Home for the Holidays line to jazz the gift card up. I  used this tutorial on Splitcoaststampers as well. I adore fun fold cards. They add such a wow factor to giving a card!

Diagonal Double Pocket Card

Along with the gift card ,I added one of our cute pixies and then slipped a little treat in the top fold as well. I love that this also doubles as a greeting card on the inside so that you can add a personal sentiment wishing the recipient a Happy Holiday!
Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to pick up some Home for the Holidays so you can make your own holders!

Traditions Layout featuring Doodlebug Design

Hi there - it's Tya here today on the blog and I am so happy to share with you my layout based on "Traditions". Traditions are what make the holidays special and we do have a few that we have adopted over the years, but the one that we have done since the kids were tiny is Christmas Eve Pajamas. On Christmas Eve, Santa's Elves make a special trip all their own and drop off a special gift of PJ's and slippers to the Smith kids at Grandma's House so when we get home from our Christmas Eve party, they will be all ready to hit the sheets in their new pajamas!  I know a lot of families also do this so hopefully my layout will inspire you to make a page of your own! Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
