Summer Dreams Pillow Boxes

Hi there Echo Park fans! It's Tya and I am up on the blog today to share with you a fun treat holder project featuring the adorable Summer Dreams collection. With its yummy colors and fun accents - I had a great time making these little boxes up. I thought this line was perfect for some summery treats.

Pillow boxes are one of my go-to boxes to make when I am looking for a quick and easy gift or treat holder. They are so versatile as well. Let me show you a few fun ways to spice up ordinary pillow boxes.
I cut this first pillow box with my Silhouette using this file here. This is just a good basic pillow box that I like to use. I filled this first box with some colorful ice pops. The Summer Vacation pattern paper was perfect with its Popsicle pattern so I used that as my box base.

To fit taller treats, simply trim off one of the ends of the box like shown.

I decorated this bag using a piece of Painted Strokes paper and then added one of the Mini Paper Fans to the front. I added a Popsicle sticker from the Element Sticker sheet to the fan. I also added two mini heart stickers as well. I cut (2) 3 inch strips of paper from the Dark Pink / Orange - Coordinating Solid paper and made them into banners. I glued these to the back of the paper fan. To finish off the box I added a length of yellow bakers twine to the top of the box.
(Insert Tya Smith SD Pillow Box photo 2 here)

The next box is uses the same pillow box cut out as above. This is a more traditional pillow box.  I used the Sweet As Summer pattern paper as the box base.

This one again used a Mini Paper Fan as the embellishment. I added an ice cream cone Summer Dreams Layered Sticker to the front. I also added 2 chipboard circle embellishments from the Chipboard accents. I added a couple of small enamel dots as well. I love adding lots of ribbon and twine to tie this type of box off.

My last box is a fun one. I again used my Silhouette and cut out this pillow box found here. I thought the handle was a fun touch to this pillow box. It was also the perfect place to add some more fun ribbon and a watermelon brad from the Decorative Brads. I used the watermelon pattern side of the Journaling Cards paper to make the base of this box.

To decorate this box I used another Mini Paper Fan with a watermelon theme. I added a watermelon sticker to the fan. I also used a piece of mint green paper from the B side of the 3x4 Journaling Cards paper as the belly band.

Aren't these so fun? And they are so easy to put together too! Hopefully I have inspired you to make a few of these pillow boxes of your own and I hope I have shown you some new fun variations on this cute type of box. Happy Crafting everyone!

Summer Dreams Layout

Hi everyone - it's Tya here up on the blog today. I am having so much fun using the super cute Summer Dreams collection. Today I am sharing with you a fun layout featuring this adorable line.

To make my layout I started by using a kraft cardstock base. I then cut a piece of Painted Strokes pattern paper to the right side of the paper. I also added a strip of the B side of the Painted Stokes paper (blue) and a strip of the pink side of the Summer Lovin Plaid paper.

I loved embellishing my layout with all sorts of different products. I typed up my journaling on white cardstock and cut it into strips. I glued these to the left top of the page and added a flamingo sticker from the Element Sticker sheet to the journaling. I also added a couple of enamel shapes next to the flamingo.

In the bottom left corner of my layout I added a cluster of fun goodies for my title block. The circle is from the Ephemera pack. The stripe tag is tied with some crochet thread and it is from the Frames and Tags Ephemera pack. The cute popsicle  and F U N letter are from the Chipboard Accents. The Summer is from the Enamel shapes and was just the right touch for my title. I also added a blue enamel  sparkle shape as well to finish it off.

I found a fun photo of my daughter looking cute at the beach and so I decided to use that as my photo for the layout. Underneath the photo I added a few more clusters of embellishments. Behind the photo is a 4 x 6 inch piece of mint green pattern paper from the 6x6 paper pad. I then added a yellow and white stripe tag from the Frames and Tags Ephemera and tied a white crochet thread bow to the top. I tucked this under the mint paper. I added a small heart banner from the Ephemera pack to my photo with some foam tape underneath. Next the photo is the Summer Bucket list card which is found in the Ephemera pack as well. I also added a cute pair of chipboard sunglasses from the Chipboard Accents to the layout.

I then added a few more embellishments to the right side of the layout. Here I  used a striped polaroid style frame with some pink solid paper in the backing and added it to the layout. I then used the Sunny Pinwheel Die Set and cut out a pinwheel from the Navy / Yellow - Coordinating Solid paper. I added a cute pink polka dot brad from the Decorative Brads to the center. I added a banner sticker and put it under my photo.I added a smile cut out from the Ephemera pack and then finished off this cluster with a pink chipboard camera.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hopefully I have inspired you to record some of your favorite summer themed photos using this awesome collection! It is chock full of so many fun summer themed elements. I can't wait to make more! Happy Crafting!

Toy Box Card

Hello everyone - it's Tya and I am here today to share with you a fun card featuring the amazing Toy Box collection by Carta Bella. I had so much fun working with this adorable line. I just loved all the icons and bright colors!
So do you know a super kid? What better way to show that special someone just how super you think they are than with a playful handmade card like the one I have made below:
I used papers from the 6x6 paper pad to make my card. The primary colors were so great to work with. I started with a 5x5 inch kraft cardstock card base and then layered my papers on from there.

To embellish my card I used some chipboard pieces, stickers and brads. Here are a few close ups:

The card's focal point is this adorable toy soldier paper fan. I mounted the fan on 2 stitched circle die cuts. I then added the Super Kid sentiment from the Ephemera Frames and Tags kit onto the fan.

To finish off the card, I embellished with a couple of jacks stickers, mini rhinestone brads and some white crochet thread wrapped around the card a few times.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to create something wonderful of your own with the Toy Box line. Happy Crafting!

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Hi Friends! Welcome to the blog today! It's Tya and I am up today to share with you my card featuring the amazing Let's Cruise line from Carta Bella! Boy did this line make me want to take a cruise! It is full of gorgeous art and I love the color palette as well! So nautical!

I fell in love with all the art on the 3x4 cards so I am centering my card around this Bon Voyage card. Isn't it so fun?

I also really liked all the different pattern papers in this collection. I used a few different papers from the 6x6 paper pad to make my card. One of my favorite things to do when I can't decide what side of the papers to use is to fold down one of the corners of the paper and then you get a little "peek" of the other side too! I did this with this blue wave paper with lots of fun travel themed tags on the back. I folded down one corner and added a brad from the Decorative Brads to hold it down. I cut a 1 1/2 inch square of red paper under the folded down corner and glued it to the card base. I also added a small staple for some shine.

I really liked so many of the chipboard accent pieces so I added a blue chipboard anchor to the card. I tucked this under the Bon Voyage card. I added a small blue enamel dot to the top part of the anchor. I then added a strip of stripe paper to the bottom of the card and added some enamel dots and a few tiny staples to the right bottom edge.

To finish of the card I added a few labels from the Ephemera pack. I layered them on top of the stripe paper with some foam tape. I finished this section off with a "First Class" chipboard tag tied with a piece of white crochet thread.

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope I have inspired you to pick up this awesome collection! It is such a fun, festive line! I can't wait to make some scrapbook pages with this line as well - so many fun designs! Happy crafting friends!

Black is my favorite color and when it's paired with bright summer-y colors - I am in heaven! I had so much fun making this card!

I added some foam tape to the back of these pieces for dimension. I then tucked a large enamel leaf  underneath the summer piece.

Next I had a of fun layering a few different products. I started with a blue striped tag from the ephemera pack. I added a hot pink flamingo enamel piece to left center of the tag. Echo Park Once Upon a Time Princess Card

Hello everyone - it's Tya and I am up on the blog today to share with you a sweet handmade card featuring the lovely Once Upon a Time Princess collection.

This collection is so fun and girly - full of crowns and wands and castles. I am planning on giving this to my sweet little niece who is totally all girl and will love it! I used pattern papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad on my card and then had lots of fun embellishing the card. Here are some close ups of the card:

The focal point of the card is one of the new Mini Paper Fans. I added the light pink fan and layered a chipboard crown from the Chipboard Accents on top for some added dimension. I also added some scallop borders on my card base using this Silhouette digital cutting file: Scallop Border Big
I used a purple frame from the Ephemera kit and then layered the Happily Ever After chipboard banner to the top. Underneath the sentiment banner I bunched up a bit of thin gold floss for some shine. I loved the pops of gold foil in this collection! I added a gold foil chipboard heart to the left side of the card.

I also added a star wand sticker from the Element Sticker Sheet to the right side of the banner.

Next I added a tall purple tower sticker from the Element Sticker Sheet to the left of the paper fan with some foam tape for dimension. Isn't it so fun? If you look close you can see a long, blonde braid trailing down the tower. Love it!

To finish off the card I added a few gold ink splatters and a pink chipboard crown banner piece to the upper right corner.

This card was so fun to make. I love using all sorts of dimension on my cards and with all the fun embellishments that were designed for this line - I made a card that I am so proud to give away! Hopefully I have inspired you to make one of these for your special little princesses! Happy Crafting!

Echo Park Mother's Day Cactus Gift Set

Hello Echo Park Fans! It's Tya and I am up on the blog today sharing with you a fun Mother's Day gift set that was entirely inspired by all the adorable cactus elements in the Just Be You collection! I LOVED this collection so much! From the color palate to all the amazing icons - I couldn't wait to design this gift set using some of my favorite pieces.

Now if your mom is anything like me and born without a green thumb - then this little gift set will be just what she needs. These 3D cactus and plants that I made need absolutely no watering! :) Here are a few close ups of the plants. I used several Silhouette cut files to make the plants. The exact ones I used I will link in the supply list below. The plants were cut from cardstock and some of the Solid Cardstock sheets that go with this collection.

I used a yellow tin bucket from my local craft store to hold the plants. I added some Styrofoam pieces to the inside and then add the paper plants into the Styrofoam using skewers to hold them. I then added some mint paper shreds to fill the planter and cover the foam up. I hot glued the flowers to the tops of the cactus.

I also made a card to go with the planter set. Here are some close ups of the card:

Hopefully I have inspired you to try you hand at making some 3 dimensional plants - they really pack a lot of punch and are super low maintenance to take care of. Thank you so much for stopping by today! Happy Mother's Day!
